NBC will broadcast the 2012 Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 5-7pm. The post time (the actual start time) for the main race is 6:40pm. There are twelve other races going on that day, so there is plenty of other horse racing occurring.

The Belmont Stakes (aka the Run for the Roses) is a Grade I stakes race for three-year-old thoroughbred horses. It is 1 ½ miles (12 furlongs) in length and first place wins $1,000,000.

The Belmont Stakes is the third leg in the US Triple Crown following the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes.
